Hahn gets supervisor’s greenlight for South Whittier park renovation

Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn (D-Southeastern LA County including Long Beach, San Pedro, Diamond Bar, Whittier, Cerritos, Downey, Torrance, Redondo Beach, Hacienda Heights) this week pushed through approval of a $1.3 million project for a new playground at Amelia Mayberry Park in unincorporated South Whittier
The 14-acre park at 13201 East Meyer Road has not seen its playground refurbished since 2003, while the 2016 Parks Needs Assessment—led by the County’s Department of Parks and Recreation in collaboration with community partners—deemed the park’s catchment area as having “moderate to high” park needs.
“It’s been 22 long years since this playground was last updated. It’s due for some TLC,” said Hahn. “I’m proud that we’ll be delivering a new and improved playground for the children of South Whittier at this beloved park.”
The project will include replacing the existing playground equipment, shade canopies, and safety surfacing; renovating pathways and seating; and making related renovations.
Construction is expected to begin in July 2026 and conclude by March 2027.
Hochman charges social media influencer with sexual assault

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman announced yesterday that charges have been filed against social media influencer and hip-hop artist for allegedly sexually assaulting two women in seperate incidents that he lured to a vacant area impacted by January wildfires. The assaults allegedly occurred during separate incidents this past summer.
Clinton Adams, 32, known online as “Clintnlord,” of Northridge is charged with three felony counts of forcible rape and one felony count of assault with the intent to commit rape. It is further alleged that the crimes were committed against multiple victims.
“These allegations describe predatory attacks carried out in an area still affected by the aftermath of the January wildfires,” said Hochman. “Taking advantage of a historic disaster and causing severe harm to two women is despicable. These women showed courage by coming forward to report their assaults. Investigators believe there may be additional victims.”
Adams pleaded not guilty at arraignment on Nov. 21 and remains in custody on $1,475,000 bail. If convicted as charged, he faces a maximum sentence of 90 years to life in state prison.
In the meantime, LAPD’s Operations-West Bureau Special Assault Section is seeking the public’s help to identify additional victims or witnesses. Anyone with information regarding Clinton Adams is urged to contact Officer Lee at 213-473-0420.

Cisneros Unveils Health Care Action Plan

U.S. Rep. Gil Cisneros (D-El Monte, West Covina, La Puente, Baldwin Park) this week unveiled his Health Care Action Plan, a commonsense agenda to address the Republican healthcare crisis by lowering healthcare costs, expanding access to high-quality care, and protecting the programs millions of working Americans and seniors rely on.
The Action Plan is a roadmap for Congressional Democrats to ensure every American has access to and can afford the medical care they need, no matter their income or where they live. It also advances a clear vision: healthcare policy should not only preserve what we have; it should create a stronger, fairer, and more affordable system that protects every American.
Using the Action Plan as a guide, Cisneros will work to lower costs by protecting and expanding upon the Affordable Care Act; improve access by closing coverage gaps for rural and underserved communities, strengthening Medicaid and Medicare, and safeguarding reproductive healthcare; and defend public health by combating dangerous misinformation and investing in science-based research to develop the treatments of the future.
“Republicans have cornered us into this healthcare crisis and I am proud to join my New Dems colleagues to take action and fight back to defend affordable health care,” said Cisneros. “The New Dems Healthcare Action Plan outlines our priorities to lower costs for Americans and expand access to care. Nobody in America should have to choose between their health care or putting food on the table and paying rent. It’s time to end this Republican nightmare and stand up for hardworking American families.”
Each of the Action Plan’s more than 45 specific policy recommendations falls under one of the document’s three principles: providing quality, affordable health care with predictable costs; improving Americans’ health care and protecting and strengthening the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and Medicaid; and delivering timely, reliable access to doctors, hospitals, and medicines to every American.

Kamlager-Dove’s concerned about Netflix, Warner Bros./HBO Merger

U.S. Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-Culver City, View Park-Windsor Hills, parts of South LA), last Friday expressed some concerns on the proposed merger between Netflix and Warner Bros./HBO.
Kamlager-Dove, member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on on Courts, Intellectual Property, Artificial Intelligence, and the Internet, said she will be closely monitoring developments to ensure that this deal does not negatively impact consumers and the creative community.
“As the representative of a vibrant district in the heart of Los Angeles, it is my duty to uplift the creative community, whose work is the heartbeat of these major studios, and the consumers whose support sustains the entertainment industry,” said Kamlager-Dove.
“At a time when American families are grappling with an affordability crisis, I take my Judiciary Committee responsibilities seriously. It is crucial that new deals, innovations, and mergers don’t diminish competition, drive up streaming costs, or negatively impact the creative community I am proud to represent.
“This deal marks the beginning of a regulatory process. I look forward to a robust Congressional examination of its merits and its impact on competitiveness and the creative sector as a whole. Throughout this process, our top priority must be what’s best for creatives and consumers.”
