Newsom touts 2025 accomplishments

California Gov. Gavin Newsom yesterday released a list of his administration’s top 64 actions and accomplishments for 2025, touting both the state’s continued population growth and providing $2.5 billion in immediate funding for fire response and recovery of the devastating January fires in Los Angeles County.
In the release, the term-limited Newsome, who is eyeing the White House in 2028, also noted “federal hostility, and Donald Trump’s assault on our freedom and democracy.”
“As this year comes to a close, I’m proud to serve and lead a state that continues to set the pace — expanding affordability, driving innovation, and standing tall on the global stage. And as we enter the new year, the Golden State will keep fighting for every Californian,” said Newsom.
Friedman Tours Fresenius Medical Care Dialysis Clinic

U.S. Rep. Laura Friedman (D-Burbank, Glendale, West Hollywood, Hollywood) recently toured Fresenius Medical Care’s dialysis clinic in Burbank, where she met with patients, nurses, and staff.
Fresenius Medical Care, also known as Fresenius Kidney Care, is a provider of in-center and at-home dialysis treatment with more than 2,300 locations nationwide, serving more than 190,000 patients.
“Dialysis is a lifeline for so many Americans in my district and across the country who suffer from chronic and late-stage kidney disease — and it is a lifeline that needs protecting,” said Friedman. “In Congress, I am fighting to protect Medi-Cal and preserve Covered California so that all Angelenos can get affordable healthcare, whether they’re just going for a check-up or receiving dialysis.”
Friedman’s Congressional District boasts one of the highest numbers of hospitals in the Los Angeles County region, as well as countless clinics. Friedman has been a steadfast advocate for all of them, frequently standing shoulder to shoulder with their patients, doctors, nurses, and healthcare administrators to raise awareness of issues such as the expiration of ACA tax relief.
Friedman has also raised awareness of the Trump administration’s disastrous policies affecting the healthcare profession and educational access as a whole, most notably at a rally with nurses earlier this December.
Rodriguez responds to media story on LAFD after-action report

Los Angeles City Councilmember Monica Rodriguez (D-Pacoima, Sunland-Tujunga, Sylmar, Shadow Hills, Sun Valley, Lake View Terrace, Mission Hills) last week slammed the recently released Los Angeles Fire Department’s after-action report on the Palisades fire after the Los Angeles Times reported that multiple drafts were edited to downplay key leadership failures.
“Today’s reporting makes clear that accountability is optional when after-action reports are conducted in-house with oversight by political appointees,” said Rodriguez.
“After-action reports are meant to provide a comprehensive and transparent assessment of key leadership decisions to ensure proper accountability. If these reports are purposefully watered down to cover up failures, it leaves Angelenos, firefighters, and city officials without a full understanding of what happened and what needs to change.
“After-action reports must be independent to ensure honest assessments in order to avoid repeating disastrous errors and to protect our communities in the future.”
